Sometimes you only need a few pages from a large PDF โ not the whole document. Splitting PDFs lets you extract exactly the pages you need, reduce file sizes, and organize your documents more efficiently. Here's everything you need to know.
Why Split PDF Files?
- Extract specific chapters: Pull out just the chapter you need from a long book
- Reduce file size: Share only the relevant pages instead of the full document
- Separate invoices: Split a multi-invoice PDF into individual invoice files
- Share selectively: Only share certain pages with specific people
- Organize better: Break one large PDF into logical smaller sections
Understanding Page Ranges
Our Split PDF tool lets you specify exactly which pages to extract using the From Page and To Page settings:
- From Page 1, To Page 5: Extracts the first 5 pages
- From Page 3, To Page 3: Extracts only page 3
- From Page 10, To Page 0: Extracts from page 10 to the last page (0 means last)
- From Page 5, To Page 0: Everything from page 5 to the end

๐ก Pro Tip: Split Multiple Sections
Need to extract multiple different sections? Simply run the Split tool multiple times with different page ranges. It's completely free with no limits!
โ How do I know how many pages my PDF has?
Open the PDF on your phone or computer โ the page count is usually shown at the bottom of the viewer. You can also use the "To Page" setting of 0 which automatically goes to the last page.
โ Can I extract a single page?
Yes! Set both "From Page" and "To Page" to the same number โ for example, both set to 5 will extract only page 5.
โ Does splitting damage the original PDF?
Not at all! The original file is never modified. The tool creates a brand new PDF file with only the pages you selected.
