Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 14, 2026

🎉 TL;DR — Your files NEVER leave your device. All processing happens in your browser. We cannot see your documents, period.

1. Introduction

Welcome to PDFSnap (https://pdfsnap.github.io/). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have regarding your data. PDFSnap is a free, browser-based PDF and image processing tool. Our fundamental design principle is that your files never leave your device — all document and image processing runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. This means we are structurally incapable of accessing, storing, or transmitting your files. Please read this policy carefully to understand our approach to privacy.

2. No File Uploads — Ever

All file processing on PDFSnap happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do NOT upload, store, or access any files you process. Your files never leave your device — this is a technical certainty, not just a promise.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect the following non-personal information automatically via Google Analytics:

This is used only to understand which tools are popular and to improve our service. It is anonymized and aggregated.

4. Google AdSense & Cookies

We use Google AdSense to display non-intrusive ads. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can opt out at Google Ads Settings.

5. Account Information

If you create an optional account, your name and email are stored locally in your browser only (localStorage). We do not store this on any server. Clearing your browser data removes it completely.

6. Bug Reports & Contact Forms

When you submit a bug report or contact form, the following is sent to Formspree (our form handler):

No file data is ever included in these submissions.

7. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Their own privacy policies apply:

8. Your Rights

Because PDFSnap does not store personal data on any server, most traditional data rights (access, portability, rectification) are satisfied by default — there is simply no data about you to retrieve or correct. However, you still have the following rights:

9. Children's Privacy

PDFSnap does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain jurisdictions including the EU under GDPR). Our service is designed for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not have user accounts, registration, or any feature that would encourage a child to submit personal data. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has submitted personal information to us — for example via our contact form — please contact us immediately at pdfsnap.tools@gmail.com and we will take prompt steps to delete that information from our records.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our service evolves, as new third-party services are added, or to reflect changes in applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. If you continue to use PDFSnap after a change to this policy is published, that constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with a change, you may stop using the service and contact us with any concerns.

12. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

PDFSnap uses the following types of cookies and tracking:

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from using PDFSnap tools, as all processing is client-side.

13. Data Retention

PDFSnap retains no user files, documents, or images. Since all processing happens in your browser, nothing is ever transmitted to our servers. Analytics data retained by Google Analytics follows Google's standard retention policy (26 months by default). Contact form submissions (if sent) are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry.

14. International Users

PDFSnap is operated from India and accessible worldwide. By using our service, users in the European Union (EU/EEA) acknowledge that analytics data may be processed by Google LLC in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses. Users in California (CCPA) may request disclosure of any personal information we hold — in practice, this is limited to any email you voluntarily provided via contact form.

15. How to Request Data Deletion

If you have previously contacted us via email and wish to have your message data deleted, send a request to pdfsnap.tools@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days.
