Built by developers who were tired of paying $20/month just to compress a PDF. We made it free — for everyone, forever.
I'm a self-taught developer from Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh, India. I started PDFSnap in 2024 after a frustrating experience — a friend needed to submit a job application but couldn't compress her PDF below the portal's 5MB limit without paying for Adobe Acrobat or uploading her CV to some random website.
That bothered me. These are operations any modern browser can do for free. So I built the tools myself using PDF.js and pdf-lib — open source JavaScript libraries that run entirely in your browser. No server, no uploads, no subscriptions. Just tools that work.
I'm still the only developer on PDFSnap. I maintain it in my spare time and read every message that comes in.
PDFSnap exists to prove that basic file tools don't need to cost money. The PDF format has been around for over 30 years. Modern browsers are powerful enough to handle PDF and image processing entirely on-device.
Our mission: give everyone — students, freelancers, small businesses, and professionals — access to the same tools that large companies pay for, completely free and with full privacy.
PDF and image tools — all free, all browser-based. Every single one tested and working:
When you use a PDFSnap tool, your file is loaded into your browser's memory using the JavaScript File API. The PDF.js and pdf-lib libraries process it entirely on your device — no network request is ever made with your file data.
✅ Files never uploaded to any server
✅ No account required
✅ No watermarks on output
✅ Works offline after first load
✅ We don't sell or analyze your data
We use Google Analytics (anonymized) and Google AdSense. Neither service receives your file content.
