❓ Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Is PDFSnap really 100% free? +
Yes — completely free, forever. All 40+ tools work with no file size limits enforced by us, no watermarks on output, and no account required. We are supported by non-intrusive ads (Google AdSense), which is what keeps the lights on while the tools stay free for everyone.
Are my files safe? Do you store them? +
Your files never leave your device — this is not a marketing claim, it is a technical fact. All processing happens inside your browser using JavaScript libraries (PDF.js, pdf-lib, Canvas API). No file data is ever sent to our servers. We physically cannot see your documents, which is why we can offer this service at zero cost.
Does PDFSnap work on mobile phones? +
Yes. PDFSnap is fully responsive and works on Android and iPhone browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge. Since all processing happens in the browser, no app download is needed. Just open the website on your phone and use any tool directly.
What is the maximum file size I can use? +
There is no artificial file size limit set by PDFSnap. The practical limit depends on your device's available RAM, since all processing happens in your browser's memory. Most modern devices handle files up to 100–200MB comfortably. Very large files (500MB+) may be slow on older devices.
Can I use PDFSnap offline? +
Yes — after your first visit, PDFSnap installs as a Progressive Web App (PWA) and caches its resources. This means you can use many of the tools even without an internet connection. Simply visit the site once, and the tools become available offline automatically.
💡 Why We Built This
PDF tools should not cost $20/month
The PDF format has existed since 1993 — over 30 years. Modern browsers in 2026 are powerful enough to compress, merge, split, and convert PDFs entirely on-device, with no server needed. Yet many PDF services charge $20–30/month for these same operations.
PDFSnap was built by Mohammad Armaan, a developer based in Himachal Pradesh, India, who got tired of watching friends and students pay for tools that their browser could already handle for free. Every tool on this site is built with open-source libraries — PDF.js, pdf-lib, and the Canvas API.
We are a small, independent project supported by Google AdSense ads. That's it. No venture capital, no subscriptions, no user data sold. Just free tools, for everyone.
